by Remarquez out of Aloma's Princess
Matoka's Marque, aka "Mattie", was a broodmare for many different prolific colored Thoroughbred breeding farms. She was an amazing mother and a very, very sweet mare whom I loved very dearly, up to the end. Bred by Lisa Frank in Virginia, Mattie was the only known maximum expressed frame overo Thoroughbred mare in existence as of 2019, but it was her personality that defined her most. We suspect she was homozygous dominant for W20, though she hadn't been specifically tested for Dominant White. Mattie had been confirmed genetically as "EE AA nO" and always produced bay-based foals due to her homozygous dominant extension and agouti genetics. She had an incredibly lovable and expressive personality that she passed to her foals year after year. We could not be more pleased with this 2009 white Thoroughbred mare out of Aloma's Princess by Remarquez.
Matoka's Marque died September 16, 2019 at around 2pm due to colic. Despite all of our desperate efforts to get her to the hospital, she broke into seizures and died as transport was pulling in. Mattie left us with a beautiful filly whom we will never part with.
Please enjoy these pictures of Mattie throughout her life. They are but a glimpse of how wonderful this mare was.
